Spelling Bee 2018
This year marks nine decades of the Scripps National Spelling Bee. St.Anthony School participates in the Bee because it sparks a love of reading and fosters an appreciation of the power of words! Every year, 3rd through 8th grade SAS students from all walks of life have the opportunity to participate in the Scripps National Spelling Bee, one of the nation’s oldest and most iconic competitions. They progress from classroom to hall, from auditorium to civic center,
delighting friends, family, classmates and fans, just as many other students have done before them. Every year, two school champions are declared. Makayla Seeger, (with the winning word h-y-l-e-g) and Camryn Chun, first runner up, now go on to the Windward District Bee. It took 21 rounds to find a winner this year, proof that we have some awesome spellers!
Fast Forward:
Camryn and Makayla went on to compete at the District Spelling Bee and finished First and Second Place. Now on to the State Level. Good luck Warriors!
