Aloha Saint Anthony School Family,

I hope that you’ve had a very enjoyable summer vacation and are excited that school will begin soon. The first day of school will be Tuesday, August 9th at 7:45am! It will be a full school day with dismissal at 2:35pm. There will be hot lunch served for those who purchase it. The lunch menu and order form can be found on the Lunch Program page which you can complete and send in on the first day of school.  This year you will also have the option of purchasing lunch for the entire year with a 5% discount if paid by August 22, 2016. Otherwise, lunch is paid monthly.  All lunch fees are posted to your FACTS account.

The After School Care Program will open on the first day of school.  Kindergarten to Eighth grade students meet in the Art Room, with childcare until 6pm, and Preschool and Prekindergarten students remain in the ELC with care until 5pm. Morning care will begin on Wednesday, August 10th in the K1 class and opens at 6:30am. You must complete separate enrollment and emergency forms to enroll in the Morning and After School care program.

There is a lot of activity at school in preparation for the upcoming year including some
repairs and upgrades to improve the appearance and safety of our facilities. The road
entrances and exits to the church and school, the fire lane, and the back of the primary
building are being replaced with new asphalt. The school courtyard is also being resealed
and striped with new basketball, volleyball and tennis courts. We’ve also removed the
built up silt that has accumulated in the French drains in an effort to keep our courtyard
drier. It will be much nicer for the P.E., athletic programs, and recesses too!

The long awaited Kindergarten playground is being installed, with artificial turf and new
play equipment. It may take a couple of weeks to complete but it will be a great addition
for our students. Certainly I’d like to thank the parents who helped over the years to
raise funds to purchase the playground, the PTSG for spearheading the project, the
School Board and the Parish Planning and Building Committee for handling the diocesan
contracts and logistics. Our community friend, the Pali Lions Club has also offered to
help build a new fence for this playground and we will be looking for volunteers to join
with them to undertake this project. Once the workday has been set, more information
will be sent home if you’d like to help.

Next week, will also be a busy week for the teachers as they return to school to prepare
their classrooms and lessons. They are excited to welcome back returning students and
to meet new students and families too!

Please refer to the website at saskailua.org for more information regarding class supply
lists
, school uniforms, parent orientations, school forms, lunch menus and order forms,
calendars and the FACTS tab to set up your tuition and lunch account. Please be sure to
turn in all registration paperwork on the first day of school. We look forward to meeting
all parents at the upcoming Parent Orientations where parents will have an opportunity
to meet their child’s teachers.

Wishing you every blessing for a great school year,
Mrs. Bridget Olsen, Principal
